Kentucky Historic Equine Facilities

While we are located in New England, we have performed our consulting services both domestically and internationally.

About Us

As a horse person himself, Robert maintains a passion for the wonderful horse farms and thoroughbred communities of Central Kentucky. The combination of the region’s rich history, incredible historic farms and wonderful “horse people”, all in consideration of the magnificent thoroughbreds, provides a tremendous connection and match for his professional expertise.

In addition, because of what we do as experts in historic restoration, the classic Kentucky equine infrastructure of historic farms, dry stack limestone walls and structures, slate roofing, copper details etc. our expertise is a perfect fit for both the iconic farm architecture of Central Kentucky and the indulgence of our equine passions. It’s why we maintain a presence here in Georgetown KY, in order to serve our clients efficiently, while applying our historic restoration and construction expertise to serve the equine community.

Historic Equine Infrastructure Services

At Fulmer Associates, we understand the bond and connection between horses and their owners. Every equine project design and every restoration or facility upgrade reflects our respect for that connection.

The equestrian facility experience of our firm includes all facets of development and restoration including master planning, design and construction. The restoration of any equine structure is a deeply personal and important endeavor for both the client and their legacy. We take our participation in that process to heart and spend the time required to understand  both the individual history and significance of each structure while identifying the unique client vision for both the performance and aesthetics of the subject property.

Our intent is to preserve each equine building’s structural integrity while enhancing it’s aesthetics and performance for the future.

We also honor Kentucky’s rich and unique construction materials history by specifying local materials whenever possible. Particularly when designing the restoration or replacement of the distinctive, ubiquitous dry-laid rock fences and dry- stone walled buildings, originally constructed with the beautiful and durable native Kentucky limestone.

Whether the equine client’s vision requires the restoration or modernization of an estate, a barn or the addition of an indoor or outdoor event space, every detail matters and our design criteria remains the same; “to do what is best for the horses”.

Current Kentucky Projects

Our current projects include:

The redesign of an existing equine indoor/outdoor event space on a horse farm in Georgetown, KY.

Another local project in progress is located in Lexington at a large equine facility and involves the masonry design of a significant memorial monument site.

Robert is passionate about and committed to thoroughbred aftercare. A percentage of his income from Fulmer Associates LLC is donated to aftercare organizations.
